Selection of color while designing a website is a very important task for the web designers. Color combination should be the first concern in the mind of the web master. If you don’t pay attention to the color scheme for your site, you will end up with either plain or boring site to look at. The color scheme should be chosen after careful consideration. The web browsers generally share 216 color palettes as you can see only 256 colors on all web browsers. So you need to stay within the range of 216 color pallet.

If you choose a color outside the 216 color pallet that does not exist within the browser then the browser will mix and match the color you have chosen with the color available to come up with an approximate color. This is known as dithering. So while using solid color as a web design element you should always use web safe colors. Using eye catching colors for the banners or advertisements receives more attention from the viewer’s eye towards your site. You can use bright and attractive color like red and yellow only on the areas you want the visitor to focus on. Do not make large parts of your website design with bright colors, it may get your visitors attention but they will either consciously or unconsciously no longer look at your site or thus leave your website just because of the bright colors.
